Richard Madeley red-faced as GMB slates his book cover

From Digital Spy

Richard Madeley was left red-faced on Good Morning Britain today (March 28).

During a debate about the content of fiction and its reflection of reality, his co-host Susanna Reid brought out a copy of his book The Way You Look Tonight.

Showcasing the title to the cameras, she joked that its cover was pretty deceiving.

"I was going to read some rather racy sections from Richard Madeley's The Way You Look Tonight," she quipped. "The whole cover of it, Richard, looks like a romance novel – but you told us earlier it was about a psychopath! I'm just going to put it down now."

One of the Good Morning Britain guests then told Richard that "it's very old fashioned".

The rather embarrassed presenter then tried to explain himself.

"Well, it's an old book – it is 10 years old," he said.

"It's slasher thriller in the Florida keys. That is not the right cover – I don't know why they put that on but anyway..."

Poor Richard had another awkward moment on the show yesterday when the cast of Home and Away made an appearance to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary.

To mark the milestone, Ray Meagher, who plays Alf Stewart, and Orpheus Pledger, who plays Mason Morgan, were guests in the ITV studio to talk about their dramatic storylines.

While introducing the actors, Susanna Reid told viewers: "I guarantee that as soon as I say the words Home and Away you will have the theme tune in your head for the rest of the day."

At that point, Richard Madeley started to sing the Neighbours theme tune to the Australian stars, causing his co-host to look painfully awkward.

Luckily, both Ray and Orpheus saw the funny side as they cracked on with the interview.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV weekdays at 6am.
