Richard Madeley revealed on Friday that he was forced to shave off his beard by the Good Morning Britain boss.

Madeley, who is standing in for regular presenter Piers Morgan, explained how he received a call late at night from “the big man” asking him to remove his facial hair.

“The fuzz from yesterday is gone,” said Madeley. “I was just going to bed last night and the phone went. It was the ‘big man’. I could hear something coming down the line at me.

“He said, ‘before I go, the beard… it’s fine on the tablets and the kitchen tellys, but in HD it looks like you’ve got in late and not had time to shave.

“So it’s all gone, smooth as a baby’s bottom,” Madeley said.

Staying on the subject of Madeley’s body and hygiene, the 62-year-old horrified viewers when he also revealed that he goes commando.

The confession came during a debate about women’s shape wear, which Madeley admitted to knowing nothing about, shortly before sharing that he doesn’t even wear underwear.

“I haven’t worn boxer shorts for decades,” he said. “It just much more comfortable.” Although, he thankfully added: “I do shower regularly.”

Viewers were understandably disturbed to learn this.

Plus size Hayley Hasselhoff defended the use of shaping underwear, stating: “It’s just about making you feel good. Why wouldn’t you wear a piece of fabric if it made you feel better?

“It just makes you have a smoother silhouette, it’s just another accessory for a woman. If you don’t feel comfortable in it, don’t wear it,” she said.
