Chloe Madeley has revealed that she struggled to form a close relationship with her mother growing up as she was battling a number of health conditions.

Chatting to host Georgia Hayton on the Made by Mamas podcast, Chloe Madeley revealed that her mother Judy's poor health after she was born prevented them from forming a close bond.

Chloe, who was married to former rugby player, James Haskell, before announcing their split in October 2023, had looked to follow in her parents' footsteps as she began a career in broadcasting, when she hosted Big Brother's Big Mouth in 2007, but has since gone on to dedicate her time to becoming a personal trainer and fitness instructor.

Opening up on her relationship with her mum as she was growing up, Chloe said that she struggled to form a close relationship with her after Judy's health problems began shortly after giving birth: "It was really unfortunate actually, after I was born she got really bad postnatal depression and it went undiagnosed for a really long time and then when she was finally on a good track to getting that sorted out, it turned out that she needed a hysterectomy."

As her childhood progressed, Chloe said that her mum's health continued to worsen in the following years: "And, she'd needed one again for a really long time and didn't know about it and then when she finally had the hysterectomy it didn't go very well, the operation didn't go very well, the recovery didn't go very well."

Despite always maintaining a strong relationship with her presenter father, she said her mother's ill health prevented her from ever growing closer to Judy, she said: "And it was just kind of really weirdly and unfortunately for our relationship, kind of event after event after event that really all got in the way of us really bonding and by the time I was a teenager, my relationship with my dad was so solidified and my relationship with my mum was just very murky and not really that solid."

While their relationship began to grow as Chloe got older, she said that it was when she fell pregnant with her first child, Bodhi, that their bond blossomed fully: "As I've gotten older, like I said we've gotten closer and closer and then when I got pregnant it went from zero to a hundred in a day. The bond came thick and fast and very organically, it wasn't forced or anything, and now that Bodhi is born it just seems to be growing and growing and getting stronger and stronger."

Last year, ITV announced that Chloe would star alongside her family in a reality show giving the public an insight into their lives as Richard and Judy become grandparents for the first time.
