Ricky Gervais has announced plans for a series of “work in progress” shows in August.

The comedian tweeted the news, confirming that tickets for six dates will go on sale on Friday July 20 at 10am.

The shows will see Gervais develop material for his upcoming SuperNature tour. A recording of the show is also due to arrive on Netflix over the coming months.

Venues have yet to be announced for the upcoming “work in progress” shows. They are expected to be revealed later this week.

The tour follows the Office and Extras creator’s successful Humanity shows, which concluded earlier this year.

According to Gervais, SuperNature "looks at the absurdity of superstition, magic and all unsubstantiated beliefs, and celebrates the conclusion that Nature is already Super enough. What's the most incredible fact you know?"

Gervais returned to stand up comedy in 2017 with Humanity, following a seven year break.

The show, which touched on Twitter trolls and his status as an atheist, was well-received by fans when it arrived on Netflix in March.
