Ricky Gervais has revealed he's planning a TV comeback with a sitcom he's started writing, and will star in...

Taking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gervais explained: "The idea is I get separated from my wife, and I have to move in with an absolute loser relative.

"I've lost everything. I haven't got a house, I haven't got a job because I was a bit of a kept man, and now I have to start dating again. It's horrendous.

"At 55, I've got to start from scratch, and all I want is her back. It's called Attached. It's about me trying to cope without this lifelong partner, and how the real world is harsh."

Gervais is currently in the midst of his Humanity stand-up tour – which happens to mark the first time he's been on tour in seven years.

Previously, he said: "Thousands of people paying hard earned cash to come and see you live is such a privilege. You'd better have something different, interesting and funny to say.

"Humanity is my angriest, most honest and I think my best tour yet. It's probably my most personal too. I feel I may as well tell you everything before I die.

"Hope you enjoy it. Or not. There are no refunds. Just like life, I guess."

Humanity is Ricky's fifth tour, following the success of his 2007 Fame tour, which became the fastest-selling UK stand-up show in history after selling all 100,000 tickets for the London dates in nine minutes.

Humanity's doing pretty well too, as after the first few UK shows sold out pretty much instantly, a second leg was added with 14 new dates.
