Sofa stains can be a real eyesore, and if you're unsure of the correct cleaning method or ingredients, they can be tough to remove. It's almost impossible to prevent stains and spills on sofas completely, and regular use can lead to grime, discolouration, and unpleasant odours.

However, there's no need to resort to harsh chemicals to clean your sofas. A thorough clean can be achieved using just a few natural ingredients that you probably already have in your cupboard.

The experts at Plumbs.co.uk have shared a handy tip for removing stubborn stains from sofa fabric, without the need for costly cleaning products. In fact, you're likely to find these items in your kitchen already, reports the Express.

Here's what you'll need

  • Washing-up liquid

  • White vinegar

  • Baking soda

  • Warm water

Baking soda and white vinegar combined make a potent pair for tackling tough stains. The reaction between these two ingredients forms a mildly acidic solution that effectively cuts through grease and grime.

Here's how to do it

Firstly, prepare your cleaning solution. Mix a teaspoon each of washing-up liquid, white vinegar, baking soda, and warm water.

Stir until it forms a frothy lather - watch as the baking soda and vinegar combine to create a powerful cleaning agent. Next, apply the mixture to any visible stains or marks on your fabric sofa. Leave it to dry for about 10 minutes.

Finally, clean the area. Once the solution has dried, wipe the area with a clean cloth to remove any remaining residue. Your sofa should now look fresh and free from stains.
