Rio Ferdinand shares first picture with Kate Wright

Rio Ferdinand has shared the first image of himself with new girlfriend, The Only Way Is Essex star Kate Wright.

Rio and Kate have been seeing each other for a while now, but have been keeping their romance under wraps.

Now, it seems the couple is ready to go public with their relationship.

Rio shared a photo of himself and Kate holidaying with his family in Portugal, captioning the snap: "Decent day with the fam."

Kate has also been sharing pictures from the holiday, although she hasn't chosen to share a snap with Rio yet.

After his wife tragically died from cancer in 2015, Rio has spoken out about his grieving process as well as his struggle to parent their three children without his late wife, Rebecca Ellison. Rebecca was just 34 years old when she lost her short battle with cancer.

At the time, Rio said: "She was a fantastic loving mother to our three beautiful children. She will be missed as a wife, sister, aunt, daughter and granddaughter. She will live on in our memory, as a guide and inspiration."

Kate and Rio are reported to have been dating for a few months, with him apparently meeting her family recently.

Rio's mother also sadly died from cancer in July this year, less than two years after he lost his wife. "She was a devoted mother to us all, and she was the most incredible grandmother to our children," a statement about Janice read.
