Rita Ora: It Was Incredibly Disrespectful Being Accused Of Fling With Jay Z

Earlier this year it was speculated that Jay Z had been unfaithful to his wife Beyoncé and many fingers were pointed at pop siren Rita Ora.

Rita recently parted ways with the music mogul’s Roc Nation record label to sign a new deal with Atlantic, and it seems now is the time to address the rumours that she was ‘Becky with the good hair’ and the woman Beyoncé referred to in her visual album Lemonade, which told the story of a man who was cheating on his wife.

In case you’ve forgotten, Rita set tongues wagging that she was Becky when she shared pictures on Snapchat of her wearing a lemon-printed lingerie set shortly after the record dropped and, she was again seen making reference to Beyoncé’s track when she wore a 'Not Becky’ pin on her dress at the Met Ball after-party.

But Rita insists the couple are her “idols” and she was hurt by the accusation, which distracted people from her music.

She said: “First and foremost, Jay Z is my inspiration and one of my idols – lyrically, musically, business-wise. I still look up to him and his wife every day. Beyoncé was one of my biggest idols growing up.

"That [pin] was a present from Katy Perry. Maybe I was the only one seen wearing it, but there were others. As for the rest of it, I’m oblivious, I’m just not the gossip queen.

"I find it incredibly rude and disrespectful to women in general [when] we get accused of something that’s basically against the important part - the music.”

The Jay Z and Beyoncé drama isn’t the only thing Rita opened up about.

The 25-year-old siren admitted she’s not had much luck with love in the past, having got on the wrong side of her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris, who blocked her from performing 'I Will Never Let You Down’, a track he wrote for her.

She told Vanity Fair magazine: “[Calvin is] very talented… I have had a few dramas, haven’t I? I think in general I’ve learned my lesson to not talk about relationships and gossip because I’ve been at the centre of it a few times and it’s not worth it."And I have been heartbroken… just once. Love is so great, but it also can be the most dangerous thing on planet earth. People do crazy things when it comes to jealousy and love.”
