Riverdale will be graduating to season 4 in just a matter of weeks, and the teen drama is already promising to up-end everything we thought we knew about life at Riverdale High.
In a brand new teaser trailer for season 4, we catch a glimpse of all the usual Riverdale adventures – sex, violence, murky dark dealings – but we also get a quick look at the aftermath of season 3's finale flash-forward.
In case you missed it, season 3 ended with Archie, Betty, and Veronica gathered round a fire, bloodied and shaken. Far from a pleasant evening around the campfire, the gang appeared to be burning Jughead's iconic beanie.
Although the latest trailer starts off with Archie and Veronica and Betty and Jughead all present and correct, we soon realise that Jughead's future fate might be more devastating than we first thought, when he's seen attempting to escape being buried alive.
"Isn't it crazy? In just nine months, life as we know it will be over," Veronica tells the gang as they raise their glasses to the "senior year and all its glories" – but will life be "over" in more ways than one?
As we expected, the stakes are set to be higher than ever in season 4, as it was recently confirmed that a new arch-nemesis is making their way to Riverdale.
As if Hiram Lodge and the Gargoyle King weren't enough to contend with, Archie Andrews is now getting another arch-enemy in the form of Dodger, a "local thug who becomes a nemesis for Archie".
Riverdale airs on The CW in the US and Netflix in the UK.
