  • The cast of Riverdale has been quarantining in Vancouver for two weeks.

  • As of today, they are officially done quarantining and will begin filming season five.

Riverdale season five is officially underway. After quarantining for two weeks, the show's cast returned to set today to begin work on the upcoming season.

"After fourteen days of quarantining 🇨🇦 and months of prep, #Riverdale Season 5 starts shooting tomorrow," the show's creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote on Instagram. "Spent the night in the bubble, reminiscing with these lovely people and celebrating @lilireinhart 24th birthday 🎂 How time flies. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the gang this week. Here we go...."

Roberto then posted a shot from the first scene filmed today, which I am happy to share was of KJ Apa in the steam room. "Even in a Covid world, some things never change..." he wrote.

Last month, Roberto announced that production on season five was beginning, with filming to start soon after. Then, Lili Reinhart revealed that the cast was quarantining in Vancouver, where the show is filmed, for two weeks before they returned to set. Now that they are all together filming, the cast will not be able to leave the area until Christmas. "You can't go home for Thanksgiving, can't visit your family. No one can come visit you unless they quarantine for two weeks. It just feels f*cked," Lili said about the situation, though she later clarified that she is "incredibly grateful to have a job."

As of now, it's unclear exactly when season five of Riverdale will begin airing, but most likely we will have to wait until 2021.
