Riz Ahmed has offered to team up with A Wrinkle in Time's Mindy Kaling to write the screenplay for Ms. Marvel, which will become the MCU's first film to feature a Muslim American superhero.

Ahmed took to Twitter to propose a team-up between himself, Kaling and Kumail Nanjiani - although with tongue firmly in cheek.

And it seems like The Office and The Mindy Project star Kaling seems well up for it, replying that she's "obsessed" with the character Kamala Khan.

Not everyone seems keen on the idea, however, with some fans concerned that this particular collaboration wouldn't do the character justice.

But Ahmed was quick to iterate that if they did somehow end up writing the film's screenplay, he'd pass responsibility over to Ms. Marvel comic book writer G. Willow Wilson and Marvel Comics editor Sana Amanat.

Kevin Feige recently revealed that the film is "definitely sort of in the works".

"Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we've introduced Captain Marvel to the world," Feige told the BBC.

Captain Marvel, which was teased in the Avengers: Infinity War post credits, will be set in the 1990s and she'll be the first superhero Nick Fury ever comes across.

Captain Marvel hits cinemas on March 8, 2019 in the UK and the US.
