The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is telling residents of Golf Avenue, Ricketts Road, St. Clare Avenue and Army Street, in St. John's, to shelter in place due to a reported weapons offence in the area.
A press release by the RNC around 11:20 a.m. provided few details. Police are asking motorists to avoid the area.
Officers surrounded a house on Golf Avenue with rifles drawn and used a megaphone to order residents to exit the building with their hands up. So far, at least two men and one woman have left the house. All of them were handcuffed by police.
The RNC says it will provide more information as it becomes available.
