Road closed as firefighters tackle blaze in Bootle

Fire crews surrounded a road in Bootle this afternoon after a building fire broke out. Emergency services were called to Irlam Road, Bootle at around 2.50pm on Thursday, November 7.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire on the first floor of a two-storey derelict property. The road was cordoned off while the fire was extinguished by firefighters.

A statement from Mersey Fire and Rescue said: "Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance at an incident at Irlam Road, Bootle. Crews were alerted at 14.48 and on scene at 14.53. Three fire engines and an aerial appliance are in attendance.

"On arrival crews found a two-storey derelict property with a fire on the first floor. The fire has been extinguished by firefighters using a hose reel jet and the crews remain on scene to hot spot the roof space using the aerial appliance."
