Road closed after man seen 'throwing wheelie bins at cars'

A road in Old Swan has been closed due to a concern for safety. Merseyside Police are currently on Baden Road dealing with an ongoing incident.

Police received a call just after 7.20pm after a man had been seen "acting erratically" in the street. Police said a man was heard shouting and seen throwing wheelie bins at cars, before returning to a house and smashing a window from the inside. Specialist negotiators are at the scene in an effort to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

A statement from Merseyside Police said: "We have contained a house in Old Swan after reports a man had been seen acting erratically in the street this evening (Monday 11 November). Officers were called to Baden Road just after 7.20pm where a man was heard shouting and seen throwing wheelie bins at cars, before returning to a house and smashing a window from inside.

"There is not believed to be any other people in the house and officers have put a containment on the property as a precaution. A police negotiator is at the scene as efforts continue to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

"A cordon is in place on Baden Road to ensure the safety of other residents and we thank them for their patience while we deal with the incident."
