Police have raided a house. Neighbours had reported the police activity on West Brampton, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, yesterday afternoon.

But it has now transpired that the police raid was carried out on neighbouring Broad Street. The bust happened at 4.20pm on Tuesday 1 October.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Officers conducted a warrant on Broad Street. During the warrant, it was discovered that the electricity had been bypassed. We informed Western Power Distribution which then dug up the road to cease the supply to the property. Inquiries are continuing."
