A town centre road has been closed due to a fire. Crews remain at the scene in Bath Street, Ilkeston, after a fire broke out in the roof of a building above a shop in the town.

The incident was first reported to Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service at 11am on Saturday, November 16. Four fire engines were in attendance, with crews using one hose reel jet and a aerial ladder platform to deal with the roof space incident.

A stretch of Bath Street remains closed by the emergency services. A spokesperson for the fire service said the fire had been put out.

The fire is thought to have broken out above a nail salon. It's unclear if anyone was injured.
