Road remains closed more than four hours after two-vehicle crash in Northumberland
A road has been closed for more than four hours following a crash in Northumberland.
Police and paramedics rushed to Sheepwash Road, between Guide Post and Ashington, after two vehicles collided just before 9am on Thursday. Three ambulance crews attended and the road was closed.
The road remains shut to traffic more than four hours later and motorists have been urged to find an alternative route.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Just before 9am this morning, we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Sheepwash Road, between Guide Post and Ashington, in Northumberland.
"Emergency services are currently at the scene and Sheepwash Road is closed to traffic. Drivers are advised to seek an alternative route if possible."
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) said they were called to the collision shortly before 9am.
A spokesperson said: "We dispatched three ambulance crews, one specialist paramedic, one clinical team leader, one duty officer and one HART resource to the incident (Hazardous Area Response Team)."
