Roads Blocked in Rennes as Protests Against Pension Reforms Continue in France

Protesters blockaded roads, waste collection points, and an oil depot in Rennes, France, on Monday, March 20, amid ongoing nationwide demonstrations following the government’s decision to force through pension reforms without a parliamentary vote.

Video here shows the scenes in Rennes, as France Bleu reported roadblocks in several regions. Flights and trains were disrupted, several oil refineries were partially shutdown, and garbage collectors in several cities continued to strike on Monday, France Bleu said.

The French government was to face two votes of no confidence, filed by opposition lawmakers, on Monday afternoon.

By midday local time, the prefecture of Brittany, of which Rennes is the capital, tweeted that the blockades had all been lifted. Credit: @AvicenCroco via Storyful
