They are frustrating for motorists, but necessary to keep our roads up to scratch and traffic flowing freely once the work is done.
There are long term roadworks ongoing in and around the city, but there are also shorter term ones planned. Here is your definitive list of all the ongoing and upcoming roadworks in the area, as announced by Hull City Council.
A63 - St James Street to Market Place: Major A63 improvement scheme – full infrastructure change. Lane and road closures until completion of scheme, May 1, 2025.

Anlaby Park Road South: Road being resurfaced between Tilbury Road and number 174, road closure in place. Until November 15.
Bankside: Surveys required in preparation to remove the old kiosk at the junction of Ferry Lane. Lane closure in place. November 13 to 15.
Barnes Way: Utility asset works opposite Connaught Road. Multi-way signals in place. Until November 15.
Beverley Road: Gas works near Tesco and DM Keith. lane closure in place. Until December 20.
Bude Road: Carriageway reconstruction from Kingscott Close to Cookbury close. Road closure in place. Until November 13
Carr Lane: Road closure from Queens Dock Avenue to Chariot Street for the Christmas light switch on event. 4pm to 9pm only on November 21.
Crowle Street: Due to works on Wyke Street. Multi-way signals in place. Until November 8.
Crowle Street: Gas works at the junction of Wyke Street to outside A Laver & Co. Multi-way signals in place. November 4 to 29.
Cranbrook Avenue: Telecoms works from the junction of Endike Lane to the junction of Inglemire lane. Two-way signals in place. Until November 11.
Elm Terrace: Carriageway resurfacing. Road closure in place. November 4 to December 20.
Holderness Road: Investigation works at the junction of Lake Drive. Multi-way signals in place. November 10.
Hotham Road South: Road closure for manhole construction. Until December 20.
High Street: New service connection. Road closure from North Walls to Alfred Gelder Street. November 18 to December 13.
Lowgate: New mains cable installation from the church to the junction of Scale Lane. Two-way signals in place. Until November 18.
Morpeth Street: Emergency road closure for utility repair and maintenance works. Until November 14.
Osborne Street: Road closure at the junction of Waterhouse Lane for the Christmas light switch on event. 15-minute hold only from approximately 6.40pm. November 21.
Paragon Street: Road closure from Queen Victoria Square to Chariot Street for the Christmas light switch on event. November 20-21.
Pearson Park: Footway reconstruction and speed hump installation. Footpath and road closures. Until November 9.
Queens Road: New mains cable installation at the junction with Princes Avenue. Road closure in place. Until November 15.
Remembrance Sunday (November 10): Various road closures across the city centre from 6am to 1pm.
Scale Lane: Road closure in conjunction with works on Lowgate. Until November 18.
Tween Dykes Road: Frame cover repair at the junction of Leads Road. Multi-way signals in place. November 11.
Welwyn Park Avenue: Installation of road hump. Road closure. November 11.
