All the roadworks happening in Hull that motorists need to know about

They are frustrating for motorists, but necessary to keep our roads up to scratch and traffic flowing freely once the work is done.

There are long term roadworks ongoing in and around the city, but there are also shorter term ones planned. Here is your definitive list of all the ongoing and upcoming roadworks in the area, as announced by Hull City Council.

A63 - St James Street to Market Place: Major A63 improvement scheme – full infrastructure change. Lane and road closures until completion of scheme, expected Spring 2026.

A63 Castle Street: A series of overnight closures for the A63 Castle Street scheme until January 31.

Anlaby Road: Telecoms works. lane closure in place. Until January 13.

Anlaby Road: Replacement of sign, lane closure in place. January 21 to 22.

Dairycoates Avenue: Gas works, multi-way signals in place. Until January 17.

Ferensway: Gas works, lane closure in place. Until February 14.

Greystone Avenue: Gas works, road closure in place. January 20 to 31.

Guildhall Road: Public realm works, including paving, surfacing, drainage, retaining walls and ducting within Queens Gardens and along Guildhall Road, Wilberforce Drive and Queens Dock Avenue. Lane closure on Guildhall Road. Until October 31, 2025.

Hastings Grove: Gas works, road closure in place.

High Street: Public realm works. Road closure in place. Works to take place on High Street between junctions with Liberty Lane and Blackfriargate. Until February 25.

Holderness Road: Water works installation, lane closure in place. January 15 to 16.

Holderness Road: Water works, lane closure in place. January 22 to 24.

Hotham Road South: Telecoms works, multi-way signals in place. Until January 14.

Ilford Road: Constructing new manholes and connecting sewer pipework to allow for the connection of SUDS aqua greens, built off the highway back into the sewer system. Road closure between Worcester Road and Bristol Road. Until March 18, 2025.

James Reckitt Avenue: Gas works, multi-way signals in place. Until January 17.

Junella Close: Gas works, multi-way signals in place. January 21 to February 7.

Leads Road: Water works, multi-way signals in place. January 20.

Reservoir Road: Telecoms maintenance, two-way signals in place. January 12.

Runnymede Lane: Water works, multi-way signals in place. January 21.

Southburn Avenue: Gas works, road closure in place. Until January 24.

Summergangs Road: Gas works, multi-way signals in place. Until January 17.

Wold Road: Telecoms works, multi-way signals in place. January 20 to 24.

Woodcock Street: Gas works, multi-way signals in place. Until January 21.

Worcester Road: Installing new drainage and pipework, road closure in place. Until March 14.

Wyke Street: Telecoms works, lane closure in place. January 15 to 17.
