Lindsey Burrow, widow of the late rugby league sensation Rob Burrow, has shared her hope that listeners will catch a glimpse of the "fun and the laughter" Rob relished in life through his final podcast series recordings. She was a constant presence by her husband's side during the creation of these episodes and wishes for audiences to "remember what a great guy Rob was".

From September 26, which would have marked Rob's 42nd birthday, five new episodes of the series will debut, available on BBC Sounds and BBC Radio Leeds.

In heartfelt tribute, Lindsey reflected: "Rob had so much enjoyment recording the podcast. He would want people to hear the episodes and the fun and the laughter, that was what Rob was about. He never felt sorry for himself. He just got on with life and I think he'd be proud to have this series out."

Her words underscore the legacy Rob Burrow leaves behind not just as a sports star diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) shortly after retiring but also as a tireless campaigner, rallying support and funds to combat MND and seek a cure.

The podcast featuring retired Lioness Steph Houghton and her husband, former footballer Stephen Darby who is battling MND, also welcomes the company of Burrow's mate and ex-rugby league player Kevin Sinfield. The duo, both awarded CBEs for their MND awareness efforts, are known for their strong friendship and love for a good laugh, reports the Express.

Other notable guests include ex-boxer Ricky Hatton and cricket star Stuart Broad, with the show honouring Burrow's significant impact and life. A special episode dropping on Wednesday will see sports icons like Wayne Rooney, Jonny Wilkinson, and Dame Kelly Holmes posing questions to Burrow.

'Rob Burrow Seven, Meets' earlier bagged multiple honours at the Audio and Radio Industry Awards (Arias), including two golds for best new podcast and creative innovation, and two silvers for best new presenter and the impact award.

2022 saw the debut of Burrow's intimate BBC Radio Leeds podcast 'Seven', bringing forth powerful stories from sporting greats. Chris Burns, head of audio commissioning, said: "Rob was a unique talent and incredibly well loved."

"He noted that Rob addressed his condition with both courage and wit, which was evident throughout the podcast episodes. I am proud that we were able to work with him and his wife Lindsey on such a special project."
