A manhunt has been launched after robbers "demanded cash" from staff at a village pharmacy before fleeing the scene. Armed police officers swooped on Coedpoeth in Wrexham following the "terrifying" raid at a pharmacy on the high street on Wednesday morning.

Police said no-one was injured in the incident, with efforts to track down the suspects ongoing. A spokesperson said: "At 9.41am this morning (Wednesday, November 13th) we received a report two suspects entered a pharmacy on the High Street and demanded money from the till, before making off on foot.

"They are believed to have run up Tabor Hill and turned right towards the Parish Hall. Searches to locate the suspects are ongoing."

Detective Inspector Claire Roberts said: “Our investigation into this incident, and efforts to locate the suspects, continue. I would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are rare in Wrexham.

"There is not understood to be any wider threat to the community and no injuries were reported during this incident. I am grateful to those who have come forward with information so far, which has helped with our enquiries."

Local Wrexham CB Councillor Krista Childs said: "It is extremely shocking. I hope everybody is safe - that's the prime concern that our community is safeguarded. It must have been a terrifying experience for the people involved."

Cllr Childs, who has lived in Coedpoeth for 40 years, said crimes in the village are "few and far between". She said: "We have a fantastic community here - absolutely brilliant - as was evidenced on Remembrance Sunday when hundreds came out."

She added: "We have excellent communications with the local police," including from inspectors, police officers and community support officers. They "keep us well-informed" about local issues, she added.

Another Coedpoeth Cllr Anthony Wedlake said he was wearing headphones and engrossed in his Welsh lesson at home when the incident happened. When he got up and looked outside he saw armed police outside his door and a police drone overhead.

He said he believes there were two people involved in the incident and that there was a "panicked escape". He added: "It appears that they escaped through the parish hall car park and memorial park. I think everyone is safe and hopefully not too traumatised about what happened."
