Robbie Williams could be gearing up for a trademark fight with fellow music megastar Ed Sheeran. The Stoke-on-Trent-born singer has applied to trademark a bear design for a range of products including clothes and cosmetics, inspired by his daughter Teddie.

But the proposed logo bears a striking resemblance to that used by Ed's Tingly Ted's brand, which sells hot sauces and has the rights to sell clothing featuring its bear emblem, reports the Mirror.

A source revealed: "If I was Ed, I'd probably be opposing Robbie's bid. The designs are very similar, cover the same trading classes and crucially, they're both famous singers."

They added: "Ed could argue Robbie's trademark, if granted, could deny him sales so Robbie could very well find himself in the middle of another bitter trademark war."

Earlier in the year, Robbie - who grew up in Burslem and Tunstall - had to retreat from a two-year legal skirmish with Yves Saint Laurent over his use of the name Hopeium, which the fashion house contended was too close to their Black Opium perfume.

Port vale fan Robbie, who boasts an impressive net worth of £233million, has been given the green light to sell clothing under his brand name but not cosmetics or toiletries. Yet, it appears he hasn't totally abandoned his beauty market aspirations.

The celebrity is currently immersed in producing a new album and is awaiting the release of his biopic, 'Better Man,' slated for December. Robbie recently admitted: "I've never been as ambitious as I am right now. I'm full of purpose and loving life."

One can only hope his new commercial endeavour doesn't end up causing him regret....
