Robbie Williams intimate gig organisers reveal how they got star to play
Robbie Williams was delighted to say yes to playing at the iconic Royal Crescent in Bath. With a crowd of just 15,000 the concert will be a special and intimate event next June. It will be so great to hear Robbie’s hits including Angels, Let Me Entertain You, Rock DJ and lots more blasting out across the city of Bath on a summer’s evening.
Those lucky enough to have seen Michael Buble at the Royal Crescent in 2022 will remember what a truly memorable occasion that was. Those even luckier enough to have witnessed The Three Tenors at the same venue on a hot August night in 2003 will never forget a concert which can never be repeated in our lifetime.
It has to be someone special to play at the famous Royal Crescent in Bath and organisers feel Robbie will more than fill the bill. An artist who reaches out to audiences of many generations, news he is coming to Bath as part of a major international tour will be welcomed by local people.

The announcement on Monday confirming it is Robbie Williams ended weeks of speculation in the city about who it might be. Securing Robbie for the concert was no easy task and the concert has been in the making for over a year. And then on Wednesday, it was confirmed a second gig the following night would be taking place.
It is the result of a lot of hard work behind the scenes by residents of the famous Royal Crescent, three in particular, Colin Clarkson-Short, Marc Aitken and Ian Woodhouse and members of the local residents associations.
Concerts at the Royal Crescent are very carefully planned. It is after all a place where people live, and there are lots of other streets and areas around the Royal Crescent where families live, lots of families. There are only a certain number of concerts allowed, they have to be special and organisers are careful to not upset any residents.
Colin said: “It is people’s homes, we have to make sure the residents are happy, that is the most important thing. We have taken great steps to ensure everyone will be happy about the concert and there will be as little disruption as possible to daily lives.
“We just wanted to bring the best of music to the city of Bath, it is a concert by the people for the people, everyone works together, we work with B&NES, the promoters Senbla and local businesses to make sure everyone is happy. It is great news for local businesses, hospitality, restaurants, cafes, it will be a great buzz in the city.
“We try to offer local food and beverages as much as we can, local produce, it should be a huge boost for the city,” he said.
Marc, Ian and Colin have known for a long time about Robbie Williams but were sworn to secrecy. Colin said: “I didn’t even tell my wife, we had to be extremely careful.”
The Royal Crescent concerts are always a fantastic night in the city, with a great buzz all around the streets. The organisers have secured a state-of-the-art sound system for the concert which make it better than ever and will almost eliminate any noise pollution from the speakers.
At the time of the concert in Bath Robbie Williams will be as popular as ever because of his major tour playing to huge venues including Croke Park in Dublin. A Hollywood blockbuster film about the artist’s life called Better Man directed by ‘Greatest Showman’ Director Michael Gracey, will be released on December 26, 2024.
So he will be really centre stage once again at the time of the Royal Crescent concert which looks like being another memorable night for the people of Bath. Tickets go on sale on Friday and are expected to sell out within minutes.
It is nice to know real residents of Bath are behind the concert and, according to Colin, not everyone is rich who lives at the Royal Crescent.
He said: “We have a council house, number 11, there are lots of apartments and flats with students, teachers and nurses. It is a real community with real people, and the residents work together with residents from nearby areas including Marlborough Buildings.
“There are lots of families and we wanted to bring the very best of music to the people of Bath. We have all worked hard to make this a very special occasion for Bath.”
