Robbie Williams, the pop star, has revealed he underwent a secret health battle after brain abnormalities put him in intensive care for a week.

The 43-year-old singer said he fell ill in Zurich in September and had to call a doctor backstage when his arm went numb and he began suffering from a headache.

He then spent two months recovering at his home in Los Angeles and had to cancel several tour dates.

He told The Sun he is now back to his best, but said of the scare: “I had blood tests done, and I had various scans including ones of my heart and my brain, and there were some abnormalities found, including something on my brain that looked like blood.

“That was obviously very scary, so the decision was taken out of my hands and I was sent straight to the intensive care unit.”

Williams, who rose to stardom as part of the boy band Take That, said the experience in intensive care was confusing but that he knew he was "in the right place".
