Robbie Williams stopped in his tracks as Creamfields crowd in tears after unexpected turn
Robbie Williams wowed the Creamfields crowd when he ended his show in unexpected fashion. The pop superstar performed on The Arc stage on Sunday as part of his new electronic group, Lufthaus.
However, the 50-year-old started the show by teasing the massive crowd that there will be some "surprises" at the end of the show. Bandmates Tim Metcalfe and Flynn Francis hail from Australia so Robbie treated them and the crowd to one of the greatest hits from his back catalogue.
The crowd screamed with delight when the opening chords of Angels played. Robbie joked: "See, I told you they know me." The whole of the Creamfields crowd united in song and knew every word of the 1997 classic.
Creamfields is renowned as one of the highlights of the dance music calendar and Robbie spoke of how he took the festival in an unexpected direction. He said: "You weren't expecting this on your Sunday evening were you?"
However, Robbie was blown away by the incredible way the crowd fully embraced the pop classic as ECHO photographers captured people in tears during the performance. He said: "Love you guys, thank you for being so kind."
Lufthaus treated the crowd for one last song as they ended the performance with a version of Born Slippy. The electronic group, who formed last year, was part of a star-studded line-up on the the final day of Creamfields.
Huge acts such as Alesso and Fatboy Slim were also part of the line-up on the last day of the festival in Daresbury, Cheshire. Thousands have made the trip to Creamfields over an incredible four days that will live long in the memory.
The festival is a big favourite in Merseyside as many people from the region make the short journey to enjoy performances from the best DJs in the world. Calvin Harris headlined a memorable Saturday night and people weren't ready to let the party stop on the final day of the festival.
