Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field have shared the heart-wrenching news of the death of their two dogs, marking the "end of a significant chapter" in their lives. The couple are mourning the loss of their pets, Poupette and Walle, who tragically "passed away together in bed".

Ayda took to social media to announce the sad news in a joint post with her pop star husband. She posted pictures of their cherished dogs, Poupette and Walle, stating they were "enveloped by immense love" at their time of passing, while "listening to Dancing Queen".

She penned: "Today, our dogs Poupette and Walle departed this world to embark on an adventure in an infinite galaxy far, far away. They passed away together in bed, listening to 'Dancing Queen', enveloped by immense love. For those of you unfamiliar with Poupette and Walle, here's some backstory.."

Ayda proceeded to share that Poupette had been her companion for 18 years and referred to the dog as her "soulmate". She mentioned that people affectionately referred to the pet as her "shadow" because "wherever I'd go, she was right behind me".

She added: "It's strange how you can share so much with a creature that can't communicate back in the same language. But, that's the beauty of unconditional love... it needs no words.", reports Birmingham Live.

She revealed that when she first met Robbie, she made it clear that they came "as a package deal", stating: "Rob, at the time, had three big dogs and I assumed he'd balk at the idea of having to take a tiny, white, fluffy dog on the streets, shouting 'Poupette' with a Northern English accent. But, Rob immediately fell in love with her and all of a sudden, the big tattooed, pop star... became a small-fluffy-dog kinda guy."

Ayda shared that when their relationship turned "serious" a year later, they welcomed Walle into their family. When they tied the knot two years later, they decided to include Poupette and Walle - along with their other pets - in the wedding party, with Poupette serving as Ayda's maid of honour and Walle standing by Robbie as best man.

She added: "Through the years, Poupette and Walle have been there for the birth of all four children, multiple tours, countries, and all the ups and downs that life has thrown our way the past 14 years since we said, 'I do'. As time has gone on, we have had to say our sad goodbyes to each of those bridesmaids and groomsmen... Miraculously, Poupette and Walle have held on."

"Recently, Rob and I renewed our marriage vows. There's a lot of things we're facing now (more on that another time) and we wanted to celebrate what was good in our lives; family and love. Just as 14 years ago... Poupette was my maid of honor and Walle was Rob's man. I think they were just holding on to make sure they showed up for 'Mom' and 'Dad' when we really needed them."

Ayda said their deaths marked "the closing of one huge chapter", adding: "For the first time in 18 years, I won't have 'my shadow' or my little fur besties to greet me at the door. The sadness might be hard to comprehend for anyone who has never had a pet they loved. I suppose these words aren't for you. But for those of you who've had a fur bestie, a soulmate like Poupette or Walle, that you lost...I offer my teary hug. Hope it helps."

"Going to cry and take some time to process these next few days. The final members of the bridal party have left us, but if I know Poupette and Walle, they are going to throw one heck of an after-party."

She concluded the lengthy and emotional post by saying: "Poupette and Walle, you watched me grow from a girl to a woman, and supported me for all my adult life. I love you with all my heart. May you rest and play together, forever and tell me all about it when I see you again."
