It's hard to believe that it's six years since comedy legend Robin Williams passed away. For the actor's many fans all around the world, today is a sad day, with tributes being shared broadly on social media. But for Williams' immediate family it's, of course, even tougher - and while you might assume that adoring posts highlighting how well he was loved might serve to ease that pain, it actually makes it harder.

Robin Williams' 31-year-old daughter, Zelda Williams, took to Twitter and Instagram to share some insight into how she was feeling ahead of the anniversary of her father's death - and to explain why she would be taking some time away from social media.

"Tomorrow is Dad's death anniversary. As always, I will not be here," Zelda wrote. "It's hard for me on regular, good days to remain the person expected to graciously accept the world's need to share their memories of him and express their condolences for his loss."

Zelda, who's an actress herself, went on to say that she is "constantly touched" by the "boundless continued love" for her dad - but that it comes with a downside. "Sometimes, that leaves me emotionally buried under a pile of others' memories instead of my own," she poignantly explained.

On 11 August 2014, the Mrs Doubtfire actor was found dead in his California home following a long battle with depression. It later emerged that Williams had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease - a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system - which he was not yet ready to share publicly.

The comedian's wife, Susan Schnieder, said in the days following his death: "It is our hope in the wake of Robin's tragic passing, that others will find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they are facing so they may feel less afraid."

Concluding her moving post on the sixth anniversary of her father's death, Zelda Williams wrote: "Tomorrow, it is simply too much. Reach out. Seek help. Keep fighting."

A few months after Robin Williams died, Zelda got a tattoo in memory of him. She had a hummingbird inked on her right hand (visible above), along with the numbers '7.21.51', the date of his birth, etched into her wrist.

"For Poppo," she wrote in a since-deleted black and white image of the tattoo on Instagram.
