Rochelle and Marvin Humes are gearing up to put the nation's music knowledge to the test with a brand new Saturday night series.

The half an hour show, currently titled Playlisters, will see three couples compete against each other in an attempt to name the song and the artist when they hear the track.

Each round will feature a variety of music from all different eras, dating back to the Swinging Sixties right through to the present day, with contestants hoping to win the £10,000 prize.

The husband-and-wife duo said: “This is our first standalone show together and the fact it’s a format based on our love of music makes it all the more rewarding.

“We frequently put each other’s knowledge to the test at home, so we cannot wait to see how the contestants get on.”

The new series promises to have viewers up and on their feet, singing and dancing in the comfort of their living room.

Kate Phillips, BBC Controller Entertainment Commissioning, lauded the presenting couple and promised that the show will “kick off Saturday nights”.

Rochelle is no stranger to presenting big shows and is currently filling in for Holly Willoughby on This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield.

But the singer recently ruled out a return to stage with S Club 8, having found fame in the band when she was just 12.

Humes told A List: “I wouldn’t be there — in the nicest way possible. I was such a young ’un it would be so weird.

“I struggle to remember a lot of it. I’ll go to places and people will say, ‘I saw you here with S Club Juniors’ and I don’t remember.

“I made good friends out of it but in terms of wearing those full-on denim outfits and running around like a kid, I’ll pass on that.”

Playlisters will air on BBC in 2019.
