Rock-throwing yob arrested on building site after Hanley riots now faces jail
A building site worker is awaiting sentence for his role in the Hanley riots. Police arrested Lewis Edwards in his hi-vis vest and put him in the back of a van after swooping on a building site.
Officers had already visited a property on the Bentilee estate. He last week became the 100th suspect to be arrested following the August riots in Hanley and Tamworth.
Now the 21-year-old, from Bentilee, has admitted a charge of violent disorder and will be sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on November 1. He threw a rock and a paving stone at police during the August 3 troubles.

Staffordshire Police are warning even more rioters are set to be arrested.
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Ellison said: “Those involved in the senseless acts we’ve seen in Stoke-on-Trent and Tamworth are being identified every day and brought before the courts. More and more offenders will be sent to prison as our detectives continue to work tirelessly to review all the evidence we have. I can assure local communities that decisive action is being taken against those involved. Some haven’t been arrested yet - but we are coming for them.”
