Rocketman: Sir Elton John, Richard Madden and Taron Egerton attend star-studded London premiere

Sir Elton John, Taron Egerton and Richard Madden were among stars on the blue carpet for the UK premiere of Rocketman.

John, 72, beamed as he was joined by his husband David Furnish - who also worked on the film's production - at Leicester Square's Odeon Luxe on Monday night.

The music legend also showed off the back of his blue jacket, emblazoned with his hit song title Rocketman, which gives its name to the film.

Egerton, who plays John in the biopic, held his girlfriend Emily Thomas close as they posed in front of the glittery blue background.

Bodyguard star Madden - who appears in the film as manager John Reid - kept it simple in a black suit while Bryce Dallas Howard, who plays John's late mother, also wore all black for the special occasion.

Liz Hurley and Claudia Schiffer were also spotted on the carpet as they made their way to the screening, with Schiffer showing off her brightly coloured dress and its intricate detail for the cameras.

Britain's Got Talent judge David Walliams, singer Boy George and reality star Kelly Osbourne were also in London for the event.

The hotly-anticipated film charts the formative years of John's career as well as his childhood. The film also depicts struggles with substance abuse as well as John's sexuality.

It has its debut at the Cannes Film Festival last week in a sparkling premiere attended by the cast and a host of other celebrities including Eva Longoria and Shailene Woodley.

Kit Connor, Line of Duty's Stephen Graham and Jamie Bell also star in the two hour film.

Rocketman is in cinemas from May 22.
