Rockfish launches new fish and chips takeaway
Seafood chain Rockfish has announced that four months after opening its first café on Budleigh seafront, it will finally be able to serve fried food and launch a fish and chip takeaway. This Saturday, November 30, will be the first day it fires up its fryers customers and it will be marking the occasion by selling fish and chips for just £5 on that day.
Gas supply issues have meant it has not been able to full menu up until now. To prepare for the changes, Rockfish Seafood Café closed on Tuesday, November 26, and will reopen on Saturday for the takeaway only launch. The special offer on its fish and chips will be available while stocks last.
The good news is that £5 fish and chips will also be available on the third Tuesday of each month, starting from December 17. The monthly Takeaway Tuesday event is said to be part of Rockfish's 'community commitment'.

Dine-in customers are being welcomed back from Sunday, December 1, with fried fish available to dine-in and takeaway as part of its regular menu.
A Rockfish spokesperson said: "We’re thrilled to announce that fried fish is finally coming to the Rockfish Seafood Café menu at Budleigh, starting Saturday, November 30, from 5pm. After some unavoidable infrastructure delays, we’re ready to fire up the fryers and bring this long-awaited addition to our guests.
"This marks a big milestone for Rockfish Budleigh and our commitment to serving the best sustainable seafood around."
Budleigh's long-established Longboat Café was snapped up by celebrity chef Mitch Tonks and his Rockfish brand team when it came up for sale. The vision was to create the first Rockfish Seafood Café to offer a more casual dining experience but with the same high-quality food.
Unsurprisingly, its menu is seafood themed, as is its decor. Its core menu is complimented by daily specials from main meals to lighter bites created from the fresh catch of that day in nearby Brixham.
Customers can either tuck into its food in its covered seating area or outdoors tables or have it to take away. Its indoor section has been fitted with a log burner to keep it cosy in the warmer months.
The plan is to replace it with a conservatory that has a retractable roof to enjoy the most of the warmer months and provide protection on wetter and colder days.
Rockfish Seafood Café is open seven days a week. The current opening hours are Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 5pm, Thursday to Saturday, 9am to 9om, and Sunday, 9am to 5pm.
The café will also be open in the evening exclusively for Takeaway Tuesday, which takes place on the third Tuesday of the month, from 5pm. It will not include a dine-in service.
