The golden era of reboots continues to deliver as the cast of Rocko's Modern Life are officially coming back to earth – and now we've even got a first trailer to get excited about.

Nickelodeon is bringing back the '90s cartoon classic for an upcoming movie reboot and, going by this first look unveiled at Comic-Con, Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling is about to come crash landing right into the 21st century.

Between slamming back drinks at Buzzbucks, competing to own the latest oPhone and experiencing the very realistic joy of 3D movies, it's not long before Rocko is missing the simplicity of the '90s.

"The 21st century is a very dangerous century," he says.

Bringing O-Town back to life are the voice actors in their original roles, including Carlos Alazraqui as Rocko, Tom Kenny as Heffer and Mr Lawrence as Filburt Turtle.

Static Cling will also feature the return of Charlie Adler as Ed and Bev Bighead, Linda Wallem as Aunt Gretchen and Dr Hutchinson, Jill Talley as Nosey and Joe Murray as Ralph, while Adventure Time's Steve Little and Cosmo Segurson are also on board for the adventure.

"Rocko has trouble accepting this 21st century modern life, while Heffer and Filburt embrace every aspect of new technology, social media and the endless diversity of food trucks," Nickelodeon has previously teased of the reboot.

"Rocko whole-heartedly believes that his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world."

The revival will air on Nickelodeon next year, and will be written and executive produced by the series creator Joe Murray.
