Rodon can't hide Meslier annoyance, Farke's touchline spat and Leeds United moments missed
Neil Warnock, the former Cardiff City and Leeds United boss, was one of the guests at Saturday’s match. Warnock worked closely with Sol Bamba and was back at the Welsh club to play his part in the tributes to the late defender.
The 75-year-old was waiting by the technical areas for the main body of the tribute to start. Warnock was joined by his long-term assistant Ronnie Jepson, along with a host of Bamba’s former team-mates.
As the players came off from their warm-ups, Sam Byram stopped for a while to chat with Warnock. Warnock was the Leeds manager who gave Byram his debut with the club as a teenager back in 2012.

Rodon cannot hide his frustration
In the 20th minute of Saturday’s game, before the real action got going, there was a moment between Joe Rodon and Illan Meslier we saw several times last season. Communication can sometimes be the issue between the pair, but, more than that, it is the execution of passes out from the back.
Meslier went to play a pass out to Rodon to his right, but the ball went straight into touch. Rodon was on the move and the goalkeeper had not looked up to check where he was before playing the pass.
The Wales international held his hands out, said something to the goalkeeper and then slapped his thighs in frustration.
Farke gets stuck into the linesman
In the 53rd minute, as United were starting to labour in their attacking ideas, Junior Firpo was flagged offside. However, it was clear to us in the press box, who had been in line with the left-back, the linesman in question had not kept up with play.
There was no way the linesman could accurately tell if Firpo was offside or not. He was guessing and Daniel Farke spotted it too. While he waited for the official to come back down the line towards him in the technical area, the manager could be seen giving him dirty looks of disapproval.
As the assistant came back into Farke’s vicinity, the German had some stern words with him.
Ramazani gets the post-match treatment
As we have seen a lot since the start of last season, Farke will take the opportunity to speak to players on the pitch immediately after full-time with any feedback he might have for them. We know he likes to strike while the iron is hot and the ideas he has are fresh in his mind to pass on straight away.
This time, Largie Ramazani, after making his full debut, was pulled to one side by Farke for a few words on the pitch. After the game, Farke told us he was pointing out a few unnecessary losses in possession from Ramazani, as well as a few more opportunities to score that he missed.
Craig Bellamy watching on
The Wales boss was in the stands taking in Saturday’s match. Not only is it on his doorstep, but it was a priceless opportunity to watch Ethan Ampadu and Rodon in action for their club.
