Piers Morgan is known for his divisive interview style – but we wouldn’t advise him to give up the day job just yet.

The 55-year-old showed off his dulcet tones on Good Morning Britain today after Susanna Reid announced The Who rocker Roger Daltrey was joining them on the programme, belting out a line of their 1965 hit ‘My Generation’.

A tight-lipped Daltrey, 76, looked none too pleased at Morgan’s off-the-cuff tribute as he appeared on the show via video link.

“I’m available to Roger Daltrey whenever the call comes,” the broadcaster said as Reid, 49, apologised profusely.

“If his voice goes, I’m your guy.”

Daltrey did not respond, and only turned away.

The musician was appearing on the ITV breakfast news programme to discuss his work for the Teenage Cancer Trust, for which he has released a charity single to help raise money to ensure the charity’s survival.

“It’s number one on iTunes,” he said. “Whether it raises any money these days, as no-one raises any money on the internet, or very little. Musicians seem to work for free these days.

“What it will do will raise awareness, so it’s a brilliant thing.”

However, it seems there is no bad blood between himself and Morgan, after he accepted an offer to appear on his ITV interview show Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

When asked what his favourite moment on his 50 year career, Daltrey said: “Watching the sun rise over Woodstock.

“That moment reminded me it was very nearly the end of the show, and I was so looking forward to coming off.”

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays from 6am on ITV
