Popular series The Road Trip is coming to Channel 5 this month. The show, which is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Beth O'Leary, will begin airing on January 30, with the first episode landing at 10pm.

The Road Trip was released in December 2024 after being developed by 42 in association with VIS for Paramount+. Prior to the plans to release it via Channel 5, the series was only available to stream with a Paramount+ or Amazon Prime Video subscription.

The six-part series stars the likes of Emma Appleton, Laurie Davidson, David Jonsson, Isabella Laughland, Angus Imrie and Adrian Lukis.

The synopsis for the series reads: "A wedding trip to Spain takes an unexpected turn for Addie and her sister Deb when they're forced to share a campervan with Addie's ex Dylan, his friend Marcus, and a stranger Rodney.The group confronts their tangled past."

The series was produced by Nikki Wilson with Kingsley Hoskins as co-producer. It has writers including Matilda Wnek, Ryan O'Sullivan, Phoebe Eclair-Powell and Waleed Akhtar.

China Moo-Young and Stella Corradi directed the show, and Miriam Brent, Rory Aitken and Eleanor Moran were executive producers. Filming took place in Bristol and Gran Canaria throughout 2023.

Beth's novel of the same name was released in April 2021 and quickly became a best-seller.

The book's full description reads: "Addie and her sister are about to embark on an epic road trip to a friend's wedding in the north of Scotland. The playlist is all planned and the snacks are packed. But, not long after setting off, a car slams into the back of theirs. The driver is none other than Addie's ex, Dylan, who she's avoided since their traumatic break-up two years earlier.

"Dylan and his best mate are heading to the wedding too, and they've totalled their car, so Addie has no choice but to offer them a ride.
