Romesh Ranganathan is taking over from James Corden as the host of the 16th series of game show A League Of Their Own.

The comedian, 43, has been a regular panellist on the Sky programme since 2018.

Corden - who lives across the pond where he fronts The Late Late Show - is "unable to appear in this series” due to “existing work commitments” so Ranganathan is taking over as host alongside returning team captains Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp.

“I’m over the moon to be taking over the hosting duties and looking forward to being back in the studio with Jamie, Freddie, our guests and the live audience,” he said.

“I’m truly honoured to be the new host of such a successful show."

"I know Jamie and Freddie are delighted because they often talk about what a hero I am to both of them," he joked.

Ranganathan already has some experience of the role as he filled in as a guest host several times during the show’s last run.

The 16th series starts filming on 5 July at Elstree Studios with a socially distanced studio audience.
