Ron Howard has shed a bit of light on how hyperspace works in the world of Star Wars.

The director shared an on-set photo from the upcoming Han Solo origin movie, showing what appears to be a rolling track of what space travellers see during light speed.

It looks pretty damn cool to us.

Accompanying the image is Howard's caption: "Hyperspace is real. My first experience. Wow."

And if you look reeeeeeeeally closely, you can make out a TV monitor displaying an image of Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian.

It's hot off the back of another image shared by Howard that showed us Glover as Solo's longtime friend in the Millennium Falcon's cockpit.

Howard's camera also recently caught Chewbacca in a clinch with his wife Malla, a Wookiee known for the disastrous Star Wars Holiday Special and for more favourable appearances in spin-off books.

Donald Glover is following in the footsteps of the legendary Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, as well as Star Wars Rebels more recently.

When his casting as the iconic character was first announced late last year, Donald admitted that he was most concerned with living up to his own parents' expectations.

"I told my dad immediately, and my mum was in the back and said, 'Don't mess it up!' Because [original Lando] Billy Dee [Williams] – that's hers," he joked.
