Ron Perlman wishes good luck to Hellboy successor
Ron Perlman doesn't hold a grudge against the new Hellboy.
It was revealed earlier this month that Hellboy would be getting an R-rated reboot without original director Guillermo del Toro or Perlman, but instead with director Neil Marshall and Stranger Things star David Harbour.
"David Harbour is a good dude. I wish him nothing but the best when it comes to the retooling of Hellboy," Perlman stated at Motor City Comic Con (via Dread Central).
But even though Perlman has wished his Hellboy successor well, it doesn't mean he's not still gutted about the fact there will never be a Hellboy 3.
"The third one was meant to be epic and conclusive and a resolve for all these, almost Greek oracle promises of the destiny of Hellboy. It would've made a really good movie, I think," he enthused.
And in even more bad news for Perlman fans, he confirmed that he won't be appearing as Hannibal Chau in Pacific Rim: Uprising.
Following the news of the Hellboy reboot, screenwriter Andrew Cosby teased that it will "walk a razor's edge between horror and comic book movie".
"I can't really talk about specifics with regard to the story, which they're keeping a pretty tight lid on at the moment, but I can say that this is a darker, more gruesome version of Hellboy," he explained.
Whether that's enough to get over the disappointment of a del Toro and Perlman-free Hellboy remains to be seen.
