Rosamund Pike has skewered Rudy Giuliani during her Golden Globes acceptance speech.

The British actor collected the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical award for her performance in the Amazon thriller I Care a Lot, and used her speech to praise her fellow nominees.

But it was her mention of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm actor Maria Bakalova that included a jab at Giuliani’s expense.

In the Borat sequel, hidden cameras captured a scene in which Giuliani, the personal lawyer of Donald Trump, lay on a bed in a hotel room with Bakalova’s character Tutar, who Giuliani believed was a conservative TV presenter.

Pike referenced the infamous Giuliani appearance by contrasting it with a scene in I Care a Lot.

“In my movie, I had to swim up from a sinking car,” Pike began. “I think I still would rather do that than be in a room with Rudy Giuliani. So, Maria, I salute your brilliance and your bravery.”

Pike triumphed in a stacked category that also included Michelle Pfeiffer for French Exit, Anya Taylor-Joy for Emma and Kate Hudson for Sia’s controversial Autism movie Music.
