Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice have become the quickest couple to ever achieve a perfect score on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

The 26-year-old actress and her professional partner wowed the judges on a Halloween-themed night, as they danced a "perfect" Tango to the sound of 'Shivers' by Ed Sheeran.

Following their performance, head judge Shirley Ballas said: "You are absolutely brilliant."

Anton Du Beke also heaped praise on the duo.

He said: "I've written a few things down here, and they all basically say 'perfect'."

The duo recorded the first score of 40 in this year's series and also became the quickest couple to ever achieve the score in the history of the BBC show.

'Strictly's official Twitter account said: "The first 40 of the series for Rose and Gio and the earliest 40 ever in the history of #Strictly! Giovanni is STILL the King of #Halloween.

Rose and Giovanni both jumped up and down with excitement as the scores were announced, while the professional dancer appeared to be on the cusp of tears at one point.

Elsewhere on Halloween Week, Sara Davies and her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec finished at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 23 out of 40.

The 37-year-old TV star and Aljaz danced Couple’s Choice to 'Queen of the Night' by Whitney Houston - but their routine failed to impress the judges.

Judi Love also returned to the dance floor after recently testing positive for COVID-19.

Judi and her dance partner Graziano Di Prima scored 25 out of 40 on their return to the show, as they danced the Cha Cha Cha to 'Physical' by Olivia Newton-John.
