Roseanne Barr lashes out at former co-star Sara Gilbert: 'She destroyed the show and my life'

Roseanne Barr has lashed out at her former Roseanne co-star Sara Gilbert, claiming that a tweet the actor posted “destroyed the show and my life”.

Roseanne was cancelled by ABC last year after Barr posted a racist tweet about former Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett, in which she compared Jarrett to an ape.

Barr’s first excuse was that she was under the influence of the sedative Ambien, which she claimed made her do “some weird stuff”. She also claimed the tweet was actually about anti-Semitism, and then said she was fired because she voted for Donald Trump.

Both ABC and Barr’s family were reportedly concerned about her social media activity long before she made the Jarrett comments.

“I admit it,” Barr told the Washington Post. “I’m a troll. I’m the queen of the f***ing trolls.”

Barr’s son Buck Thomas said he reset her Twitter password to try and keep her off the site: “I didn’t want her to get in trouble before the show even started,” Thomas said. However, he relented after Barr pestered him, he said.

She has now taken aim at Gilbert, who plays Roseanne’s daughter in the sitcom and also the spinoff, The Conners.

Speaking to the Post, she alleged that a tweet from Gilbert that condemned her comments about Jarrett as “abhorrent” prompted showrunners to axe the sitcom.

“Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least,” Gilbert tweeted at the time.

“She destroyed the show and my life with that tweet,” Barr said. “She will never get enough until she consumes my liver with a fine Chianti," she added, referencing Hannibal Lecter.

"While I’m extremely disappointed and heartbroken over the dissolution of the original show, she will always be family, and I will always love Roseanne," Gilbert said.
