Ross Kemp hails Blindspot's 'empowering' script

Ross Kemp was wowed by 'Blindspot's "empowering" script.

The 58-year-old actor stars in the upcoming Channel 5 drama - which centres on the relationship between a woman seeking justice and a possibly-corrupt police officer - and Ross has now explained why he agreed to star in the four-part thriller.

The former soap star - who last acting appearance was in 2016 - told RadioTimes.com: "The script, it was the story - I thought it was clever, in terms of what the story is about, about people being watched and how people interpret being watched.

"We are the most watched nation in the world - we're always being looked at."

In the series, Beth Alsbury stars as Hannah Quinn, a disabled woman who works monitoring the CCTV on an estate.

Ross relished the opportunity to work with Beth and the show's director.

He shared: "Jordan Hogg [the director] has got cerebral palsy, and Beth is obviously in a wheelchair ... I thought it was quite enabling, without ramming it down your throat. I just liked it from a point of view that it was about empowering somebody in a chair."

Earlier this month, Ross revealed that his acting return was one of the most nerve-wracking experiences of his career.

During an appearance on 'Lorraine', Ross admitted: "I was more nervous, for sure. Because I think, when I first walked on the set of 'EastEnders' in 1989 with Steve McFadden, there were no expectations.

"We just wanted to get out there and do it and we were young.

"I’m a lot older now, I’ve been around a bit, and I think there’s greater expectation. Or your fear of failure increases as you get older."
