Jeanne Connearn

Mrs Jeanne Connearn, of Pine Street, Bacup, died in Burnley General Hospital on Sunday, May 12, aged 87 years.

A service will be held at St Mary’s and St Anselm’s RC church, Bacup on Thursday, May 30 at 12.30pm, followed by cremation at Burnley Crematorium at 1.45pm conducted by Father Chris McGrane.

Born in Bacup where she lived all of her life, Jeanne worked for Frank Whittaker Fruit and Veg on markets in Bacup and Rawtenstall and also in the Waterfoot shop.

She loved reading, travelling and watching wildlife programmes on TV, but mainly being surrounded by her loving family.

Wife to the late Kevin who died on 1985, she leaves children, Sharon, David and Andrea, grandchildren Claire, Philip, Heidi and Lauren, six great grandchildren, brothers Tommy and Brian and their families, nephews, nieces and many friends.

Sylvia Cliffe

Mrs Sylvia Cliffe, of Redwood Drive, Rawtenstall passed away on May 12 at The Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 86 years.

Born in Salford she had lived in Rossendale for 54 years.

Sylvia was a hairdresser for many years working in a salon in Bank Street, Rawtenstall before becoming a mobile hairdresser.

She was married to her late husband Bryan and leaves a daughter Martine, son-in-law Andrew and a granddaughter Skye.

Sylvia enjoyed many holidays abroad practically to her favourite place Tenerife.

The funeral will take place on Thursday, May 30 at 11am at Edenfield Parish Church, followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium conducted by Mrs Lesley Stear. Family flowers only please all donations in memory of Sylvia to Breast Cancer Now.

Brian Gorton

Brian Ernest Gorton, of Helmshore, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18 at Royal Blackburn Hospital, age 88 years.

The beloved husband of Anita. Father to sons Paul, Richard, John and the late Michael and his daughter-in-law Suzanne.

Brother to Alan, Richard and Kath. And a cherished grandad and great-grandad.

He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

His funeral service will take place at Burnley Crematorium on Monday, June 3 at 1.45pm.

Frederick Gill

Frederick (Fred/Freddy) Gill of Haslingden, passed away at Haslingden Hall Care Home on May 20, aged 84 years.

Beloved husband of the late Helen and loving father of daughter Nicola.

He was a regular face in the local bookies, enjoyed playing bowls at Haslingden Bowling Club, and up until its closure, was a regular at Haslingden swimming baths.

His funeral will take place at Accrington Crematorium on Thursday, May 30 at 1.40pm.

Donations in his memory are welcomed for Bleakholt.

David Saxon

Mr David Saxon, of Dean Lane, Water, died at home after various long-term illnesses on Saturday, May 4, aged 76.

David was a true outdoor man, never happier than when surrounded by nature, walking in the hills, bird watching or growing vegetables in his allotments.

David was a builder during his working life, with particular skill in dry stone walling.

David lived all his life in Rossendale, his earliest childhood years and later years both living on Dean Lane, Water.

David leaves behind his sons Tim and Paul, sister Hazel and brother-in-law Barry, daughter-in-law Sarah and two granddaughters.

His funeral is due to take place on Friday, May 31, when Pastor Keith Mulvaney will conduct a Service and Committal at Burnley Crematorium at 11.30am.
