Rough Seas Off South English Coast as Storm Moves In

There were rough seas off the south English coast on Friday, March 31, as a storm, dubbed Mathis by France’s meteorological service, pushed eastwards across the UK, the Met Office said.

Footage by photographer Mike Spencer shows waves crashing against the shore in Newhaven, East Sussex, at about 7:30 am on Friday.

The Met Office reported winds of up to 79 mph in the Isle of Wight. The service forecast persistent rain across parts of southern England for Friday afternoon. Credit: Mike Spencer via Storyful
