Blackburn Rovers have launched their One Community fund ahead of the festive period.
The One Community initiative in collaboration with the Rovers Community Trust will aim to support vulnerable individuals and families within the Blackburn with Darwen area.
The club and Community Trust announced they will both be contributing to the fund.
The final fixture before Christmas, the Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Nottingham Forest at Ewood Park, will be dedicated to the new initiative, with collections encouraged around the ground.
Supporters will also be able to purchase hot turkey and stuffing baps on the concourse at both the Preston North End and Nottingham Forest fixtures, with £1 from every sale being donated directly to the fund.
Rovers Director Mike Cheston said: “We are delighted once again to be working with Blackburn with Darwen Council, the Community Trust and Sodexo in support of families in need over the Christmas period in these very difficult times.
“The creation of The One Community Fund, administered by our Community Trust, will play a major part in collecting and distributing funds received from our charity appeals going forward, the first of which will be this Christmas appeal, on which more detail will be provided over the coming days.”
The One Community Fund chief executive, Gary Robinson, added: “As the award-winning, official charity of Blackburn Rovers, we are delighted to be supporting this wonderful initiative.
"Through our all-year round community service and working with our partners, we are well positioned to ensure that donations received will be maximised and they will help those most in need within Blackburn with Darwen.”
Maria Nugent, Early Years Service Lead at Blackburn with Darwen Council, added: “Partnership working during these challenging times enables families across the Borough to be reached and support made available in the right place at the right time.”
