Rowling's Cryptic Tweets Cause Potter Fan Frenzy

Harry Potter fans worked themselves into a frenzy after author JK Rowling posted cryptic tweets some thought referred to a comeback for the wizard.

Rowling asked her Twitter followers to try to solve the anagram: "Cry, foe! Run amok! Fa awry! My wand won’t tolerate this nonsense."

The post was retweeted over 19,000 times with thousands of fans attempting to solve the riddle.

When the mystery was finally unravelled any hopes that Rowling was making an announcement about Potter were dashed.

The answer was discovered by Potter fan @EmyBemy2 to be: "Newt only meant to stay in New York for a few hours."

It refers to the character Newt Scamander who is a magizoologist who features in Rowling's 2001 book Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

Last year Warner Bros announced that it is teaming up with Rowling to produce a spin-off film based on the book, which will be the first of a trilogy.

It will be set in New York 70 years before Harry, Hermione and Ron's story starts.

As the frenzy died down Rowling tweeted: "Thank you, thank you, for being the kind of people who get excited about an anagram #myspiritualhome.

"Newt only meant to stay in New York for a few hours. Circumstances ensured that he remained... for the length of a movie, anyway. X" she added.

Rowling has not confirmed whether she plans to write an eighth book about Potter.
