Follow the latest updates live from the opening day of Royal Ascot 2019 as the flat racing festival known around the world for it's heritage, pageantry, colour, strict dress code and of course, the Queen's attendance, gets underway.

The feature race on the opening day sees Frankie Dettori attempt to become the third jockey to win the St James' Palace Stakes in it's 119-year history on John Gosden-trained Too Darn Hot. The field is by no means as challenging as it has been in recent years, but Phoenix of Spain is joint-favourite to claim the £305,525 on offer for the winner.
