Royal baby news: Holly Willoughby, Paddy McGuinness and David Walliams lead congratulations as Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to a boy

Paddy McGuinness and David Walliams have led the congratulations to Prince William and Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their third child.

The royal couple welcomed a baby boy at 11.01am on Monday, weighing 8lbs 7ozs, hours after Kate was admitted to the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

Britain’s Got Talent judge and comedian Walliams quickly joked about the infant’s place in the line of succession and claimed he already has the perfect moniker for the new arrival.

Walliams tweeted: “BREAKING NEWS. New #royalbaby name is ‘Kanye’.”

Take Me Out host McGuinness posted: “Congratulations!!! Welcome to the world little fella. #royalbaby.”

Former Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba, who recently welcomed his first child, shared a picture of the proud parents with Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two.

He captioned the shot: “It’s a BOY!!!! Imagine the cuteness adding to this squad. Congratulations Wills and Kate #royalbaby.”

Sharing a similar picture, Frank Bruno tweeted: “Congratulations to Prince William & Kate on the arrival of their baby boy #Royalbaby.”

This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield praised the psychic banana they used on Monday morning’s show to predict the gender of the royal arrival, posting: “The banana does it again!!!”

Hours before the official confirmation of the birth, Willoughby sliced the end of the fruit to reveal whether or not the baby would be a boy or a girl.

She said: “If it’s a dot it’s a no, if it’s a Y it’s a yes. Is she going to have a boy?”

The host then chopped into the banana to reveal a Y, and rejoiced at the findings.
