Royal baby will be 'tenacious, caring and loyal' - it's written in the stars

The new royal baby is expected to grow up to be a sensitive monarch with a streak of iron if he or she is born under the star sign of Cancer, as expected.

The combination of caring allied with natural leadership skills could be the ideal characteristics for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first-born.

Astrologer Patrick Arundell says: “With Cancer people, although they appear to be quite soft, I think they can be quite tenacious, something needed for a role where you have to shake hands and go through the whole rigmarole of formal functions.”

Much of a monarch's life is ruled by convention and ceremonies - from presiding at the State Opening of Parliament to the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

So having the ability to follow tradition and yet still have the strength of character to remain an individual will be important for the future king or queen.

Mr Arundell also believes William and Kate's baby could develop into an effective leader, saying: “Cancer people are family-loving and adherent to trends and traditions. I would also say they are caring and loyal.
 
“They can also end up leaders or managers. They don't have to raise their voices to be heard and are very good at working with people.”




William, who was born on June 21, is a Cancerian as was his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, whose birthday was July 1.

Other famous names who have the same star sign include former South African president Nelson Mandela; Hollywood actors Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise, and Edward VIII, who gave up the throne for American divorcee Wallis Simpson.

The baby will be a Cancerian if born between June 21 and July 22, but after that date he or she will come under the zodiac sign of Leo.

Mr Arundell says this sign is very different to Cancer. “Leos are gregarious, a good laugh and can be very entertaining. They are much more grand and regal and can be very proud, and like to be the centre of attention, while Cancer people are much more happy to be part of the group.

“Princess Margaret was a Leo and what you got with her was someone who didn't want to sacrifice that hedonistic lifestyle.”
